![]() Read Here SHAC Article: Turning Simmering Anger into Social Action A single day in May has again thrown social housing into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The Housing Ombudsman Service (HOS) published a damning report on rising disrepairs complaints, and the media reported the death of a baby in a decaying home owned by Notting Hill Genesis (NHG). The Ombudsman warned that simmering anger will turn into social unrest, but SHAC members are instead turning anger into organised action so that we can get government to give us a better permanent deal for tenants and residents. The HOS called on government to create a national tenants’ voice, but a voice is not enough. We need a transfer of power from landlords to tenants and residents, which is what our National Tenants and Residents Union project aims to create. Read the full story.
