Tenant & Resident Democracy, Waive The Rents

No Evictions: Making A Demand on Our Politicians

At the end of August we joined an alliance of housing campaign groups and activists to demand that tenants are protected against evictions during the pandemic. We also demand that housing associations waive rents and service charges even after lockdown for those who can show that they have suffered economically as a result of Covid-19.

SHAC, ACORN, London Renters Union, Radical Housing Network, Homes for All and others formed a united front outside the Central London County Court on the 23rd August

Our previous joint protests were successful in getting an extension of the notice period for evictions up to six months, plus a one-month extension of the eviction ban. Nonetheless, we are not going away. We will continue to agitate for as long as the eviction threat remains.

SHAC is participating in the Homes for All (socially distant) protest to coincide with Prime Minister’s Question Time, 11am – 12.30pm, Wednesday 16th September, Parliament Square. Please join us.
